Friday
Arrive in the evening at the central, harbour front hotel
Saturday
9.20 - A car will collect you from the hotel in time for the 10.00 guided tour of Stadshuset (the town hall) where the Nobel prize dinner is held every year. The building is one of the foremost examples of National Romantic architecture in Sweden
11.15 - One and a quarter hour guided walking tour of Gamla Stan (the Old Town). Visit the Stockholm Cathedral and get a feel for medieval Stockholm.
13.00 - Lunch at a local restaurant.
14.30 - Car to collect and drive to Thielska Gallery.
15.00 - Private guided tour of
Thielska Gallery. This intimate and charming museum (formally the home of the art collector founder) comprises a rich collection of some of the finest Nordic art of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
19.00 - Champagne reception at a privately owned late nineteenth century central Stockholm townhouse.
20.00 - Optional dinner at an excellent fish restaurant.
Sunday
Morning - Free time. For those who are interested in sightseeing, recommended places to visit are the National Museum, Nordiska Museum and the Royal Palace. Alternatively Svenskt Tenn, NK and Saluhallen (the covered foodhall in the Östermalm district) are excellent for shopping for traditional Scandinavian arts and crafts and food.
12.00 - Departure by steamboat across Lake Mälaren to the island of Drottningholm. Light lunch on the boat.

13.00 - A tour of Drottningholm Palace and the Chinese Pavilion.
16.00 - A performance of Cosi van Tutte at the intimate theatre of Drottningholm. Original props and sets from the time of Gustav III are still used during the performance.
Post performance - Return by bus to central Stockholm.
Monday
10.00 - Private boat trip on the spectacular
Stockholm Archipelago which contains close to 30,000 islands. Morning coffee and home- baked, traditional Swedish pastries will be served on board. We will stop for lunch at a seafood restaurant on one of the islands in a beautiful, uniquely Nordic setting. There will be time for a walk on the island and to explore the surroundings.
15.00 - Return to Stockholm by boat travelling through the inner Archipelago.
19.30 - La Boheme, Stockholm Opera House.
Tuesday
Morning - Visit to the
Vasa museum; this Maritime museum displays the only almost fully-intact seventeenth century ship that has ever been salvaged. The Vasa is a truly splendid wooden 64 gun wooden warship in spectacular condition.
12.00 - Depart Stockholm for Haga.
13.00- Private guided tour of Haga Slott.
14.30- Return to central Stockholm.
